Biography
Toreen West was born in Los Angeles, California. Toreen West comes from a long line of artists, jewelers and musicians. Toreen started drawing as soon as she could hold a pencil, and began her art career as a freelance graphic artist in the early seventies. In 1987 she began her career as a professional painter. The first fifteen years were spent painting in watercolor, but now she prefers the freedom and expression of oil paint.
Her subjects range from portraits of people and animals to landscape and still life. Toreen studies with well-known impressionist painter/sculptor, Corinne Hartley, her mother. She has also studied with amazing artists including Carolyn Anderson, Peggi Kroll Roberts and John Asaro.
Painting professionally for twenty-six years, Toreen is a committed artist with in-depth experience as a commissioned portrait artist. Her work is in many corporate and private collections. Her pieces have been auctioned at charity events such as the Women in Film, fetching significant contributions. Celebrities such as John Ritter, Jason Ritter, Clayton Norcross and band members of Steppenwolf, Blues Image and Black Pearl are among the many patrons who have purchased paintings.
